How to Protect Oak Furniture

At Casamo we love oak furniture and want to make sure that it keeps it’s quality for as long as possible!

Oak furniture is truly unique and a beautiful addition to any home, so it’s important to know how to protect and care for it!

We’ve put together a little ‘How To’ guide on the subject just for you and if you follow these steps your oak furniture will last a long time!

Treat with Wax or Oil

Treating your oak furniture with wax, oil & even polish is incredibly important as it helps to maintain a healthy shine whilst also repelling water and keeping the oak moisturised.

It is important to do this at least once a month as this will prevent cracking. However, if your piece of furniture receives frequent wear and tear we recommend that you do this more often.

By continually treating the oak you will create a long-lasting seal for the furniture, creating effective protection.

Keep Oak Furniture Clean

It is well known to some that standard cleaning products are likely to do more harm than good when cleaning your oak furniture.

We’re sure the thought of having to buy separate cleaning products just for your oak furniture is frustrating but in fact there is a simple solution! Wipe your surfaces down with a damp and clean cloth – it’s as easy as that!

Of course, for more serious spills the process is more complex and in some cases, you may need to speak to a professional!

Avoid Direct Sunlight or Heat

Another important step when protecting your oak furniture is to make sure that it is not placed in direct sunlight or a source of heat. This can cause colour fading and dryness which makes it difficult to fix cracks in the body.

Remember, don’t put your oak furniture outside unless it has been specifically produced for this purpose.
